Homemade for the Holidays: A Gift Guide for the DIY’er – Part 2

Are you ready for another round of gift-giving ideas with the DIYer in mind?  Today let’s  dive into a gift guide for the DIY’er!

Last week I shared 4 of my favorite DIY, oil infused gifts to give during the holidays. If you missed that blog entry, be sure to head here to get your hands on those recipes!

And as promised, I’m sharing another set of awesome recipes to help you give the gift of essential oils in a sweet homemade gift. So let’s dive right in, and talk about A Gift Guide for the DIY’er!

Shower Steamers

Benefits: These shower steamers pack a big punch. They are sure to give you just what you need to wake up, refresh, and take control of cold and flu season.

What you’ll need:

Mini cupcake liners

2 cups baking soda

1 cup citric acid

2 Tablespoons water

RC or Raven Essential Oil


  1. Mix 2 cups of baking soda and 1 cup of citric acid in a glass bowl and set aside
  2. Mix 2 tablespoons water and 15-20 drops RC in a glass bowl.
  3. SLOWLY add oil mixture to baking soda and citric acid until the entire mixture is combined.
  4. Pack the mixture tightly into 1-inch balls.
  5. Place each ball in a mini cupcake liner.
  6. Gift wrap in a clear bag with a festive bow.


Peppermint Hot Cocoa

Benefits: Do you really need me to tell you the benefit of Hot Chocolate?! I didn’t think so!

What you’ll need:

1 quart-sized Mason jar

1 cup Cocoa Powder

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon Sea Salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1 cup mini marshmallows

Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil 


  1. Layer 1 cup of Cocoa powder in the bottom of your mason jar.
  2. Mix 1 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of sea salt with 6 drops of peppermint oil. Then, layer on top of the cocoa powder.
  3. Next, layer in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.
  4. Top with 1 cup of mini marshmallows.
  5. Top with lid and add a gift tag. The gift tag should include the following directions:
  6. Mix the entire contents in a bowl.
  7. Place 1/3 cup of mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup of hot water, milk, or coconut milk.
  8. Store your remaining mix back in the Mason jar and save it for later. The entire jar makes 12 servings.


Peppermint Sugar Scrub

Benefits: Sugar scrubs leave your skin feeling baby soft. This one is sure to please your senses with its sweet, minty aroma!

What you’ll need:

1 pint-sized Mason jar

1/2 cup fractionated coconut oil

1/2 cup sugar

Peppermint Essential Oil


  1. Mix 1/2 cup coconut oil with 1/2 cup of sugar in a glass bowl.
  2. Add 10 drops of peppermint oil to the mixture a mix thoroughly.
  3. Add mixture to your Mason jar, secure lid, and voila, you’re finished!
  4. Gift wrap.


Moisturizing Lotion

Benefit: This non-greasy moisturizing lotion is much like bath salts, it can have different benefits depending on the EO you use. Again, it’s totally up to you. Some options include:

Frankincense, Lavender, Peppermint, Stress Away, RC, PanAway, or Lemon and Orange.

What you’ll need:

1 half pint-sized Mason jar

3/4 cup Shea Butter

2 tablespoons jojoba oil

EO of choice


  1. Melt 3/4 cup Shea Butter using a steam pot or double boiler.
  2. Once the Shea Butter is melted, add 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil and remove from heat.
  3. Let this mixture cool for about 5 minutes before adding any essential oils. Wait until the liquid begins to look translucent.
  4. After the mixture has cooled, add 10 drops of desired essential oil.
  5. Using a hand mixer, mix until it becomes creamy.
  6. Transfer your lovely lotion to your cute little Mason jar and gift wrap.

You can’t go wrong with any of these recipes. From a tasty to treat to products that will sure to pamper your loved ones and truly make them feel special, these homemade gift options are perfect for anyone on your list this holiday season.
